  • Refractive error (prevalence and etiology)
  • Amblyopia
  • Binocular vision disorders
  • Contact lenses
Other Activities

The Eye Research Center of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences is a fast-growing research center comprised of top academic and clinical professionals performing both academic and contract researches. The center was established in the summer of 2006 with the aim of becoming one of the best research centers of the country in 5 years

  • Age-related eye problems
  • Pediatric eye problems
  • Rehabilitation for partially sighted people
  • Ocular electrophysiology
  • Psychophysics of vision
  • Designing optometric equipment
  • Contact lenses and eyeglasses

The Refractive Error Research Center (RERC) gained the approval of the University Research Council in 2012 in order to work in the fields of refractive error, refractive surgery, cataract surgery, glaucoma, retinal diseases, corneal transplant, keratoconus, amblyopia, binocular vision disorder, contact lenses, age-related and pediatric eye problems, rehabilitation for partially sighted people, psychophysics of vision, and development of optometry equipment, contact lenses, and eyeglasses. This center has set the stage for the investigation of the health system, delineation of the fields of research, and design and execution of research projects.

Accordingly, the RERC has managed to not only improve the quality of services and scientific ranking but also create motivation in professionals and students. This site has been the source of hope for those suffering from visual problems. Moreover, it has promoted ophthalmic and optometry sciences through the implementation of research tailored to the requirement and priorities of the country. Therefore, this center facilitates the improvement of eye health through trading valuable evidence- or research-based information with health policymakers.
